Step 1: Response
Write approximately 200-250 words about these poems. What attracts you to these poems? What strikes you about the narrative and/or lyric elements? What do these poems remind you of (this may include other poems we’ve read for this week, other poems or stories you’ve read generally, films or songs, life events, etc.)? What do you feel is strong about these poems?
Step 2: Poetry Practice
Using your most favorite poem from Step 1 as a model (it must be one of the two poems that you discussed), write a poem about a moment when you cared for someone or something (a pet, a plant, a car, a building, etc.) that was sick, lonely, broken, falling apart, or otherwise out-of-sorts. Conversely, you may choose to write about when something or someone cared for you.
In the vein of the poems we’ve read, make sure to include both narrative and lyric elements.
PLEASE DON’T PLAGIARIZE ANYTHING
